lakes, and follows the scenic Port Hills of Canterbury.  Your hard

efforts will be paid off as you enter Little River at the finish line, where

you get to soak up the festivities that the Little River community and

Scenic Sports staff have organised for you. This event is perfect for

the whole family. Come and run 'guilt free' while your supporters

and/or family are entertained back at the Awa-Iti Domain in Little River.

We have a 24km Trail Run, a 10km Trail Run or Walk, and a 5km Fun Run/Walk for you to choose from. And new to 2014, all 24km FINISHERS will get a medal for their hard work!

We highly recommend you and your friends dress up for the race too! We have special prizes for the best dressed man, woman, and group. Go on, you know you want to!

The COMPLETE PERFORMANCE Rail Trail Rampage course involves running or walking along a packed gravel track, and near the end at Little River, you will need to cross over State Highway 75 (which will be patrolled by Traffic Management) to lead you towards the finish at the Awa-Iti Domain, Little River. Along the course there are a few bridges to cross and a few gates that you will need to go through.

The course takes you alongside some beautiful lakes, foothills and farmland of Canterbury's Banks Peninsula. You will get to take in the unique environment that this specific area has to offer, as well as the possibility of seeing some lovely bird life too. You'll even get to learn some of the history of this beautiful trail. Come and enjoy the fun atmosphere that the Complete Performance Rail Trail Rampage has to offer!

The 24 km course is mainly flat with a total ascent of 182m and a decent of 185m .  The 10km course is again mainly flat, with an ascent of 72m, and descent of 78m.

A percentage of your entry fee goes towards the Department of Conservation to help maintain our beautiful New Zealand.

Rules and Safety

This event involves running on both the trail and road. It is vital that you listen to all marshals along the course and follow their directions at all times to ensure your safety.  All roads are open, and we endeavour to give you smooth run, but road traffic will have right of way.

All competitors must obey all road rules. The road will be open at all times.

All competitors must respect the track they are running along, take only pictures, and leave only your footprints. The Rail Trail is on Department of Conservation land, and it is important that you respect any wildlife and plants along the course.

The race referee or chief marshal has the right to withdraw any competitor they consider to be under severe stress.

Please dress appropriately for the weather.  It can be quite exposed in some areas of the Rail Trail.

The trail consists of packed gravel. There are a few bridge crossings along the course which have cattle stops either side of them. Please ensure you WALK across these as the can get very slippery. Also there a few gates you will need to go through, including one that must be closed after you go through it. Please take your time as you make your way though these obstacles.

At times lake flies and magpies can cause a bit of a bother, these should not be an issue, but if you are worried just wear some sunglasses (for the lake flies) and practise waving your arms around to deter any magpies!

St John staff will be present during the event. If you injure yourself or feel unwell at any stage along the course, please notify a fellow competitor, so they can let the nearest marshal know that you are in distress, and the first aide staff will come to your rescue.
